Overview: Call Screen & Announce
Previous
Next

The SpydurPBX has the ability to screen your calls, either by name or number, and can be set per-extension, per-queue, or system-wide.

Here's how it works:

  1. A caller hears the company greeting and elects to speak to Bob at extension 220
  2. The system asks the caller their name, and then places them on hold
  3. The system then dials Bob at extension 220 and announces there is a call from the caller's name in their own voice
  4. Bob may now accept, reject (send to voice mail), or transfer the call to another agent

This is the basic application, but that's not all the SpydurPBX can do...
... there are many derivatives, take for example this scenario:

  1. A caller hears the company greeting and elects to speak to a manager in the shipping department, which happens to be Bob at extension 220
  2. The system asks the caller their name, and then places them on hold
  3. The system then dials the overhead paging system at the shipping docks, and announces the caller's name in their own voice
  4. The system automatically transfers the call to Bob at extension 220.
  5. Bob may chose to answer his extension, or let it go to voicemail

Finally, if somebody calls in with an unknown or blocked CallerID, you can require the caller to enter their telephone number before the system processes their call.
